Installation
Installing the Serial Card
1. Shut down all power connected to the computer, as well as all devices connected to the
computer peripherally (i.e. Printers, Monitors, Scanners etc.). As an added step to ensure
safe installation, unplug the power supply from the computer.
2. Remove the computer cover. For more detailed instruction on how to perform this step,
please refer to the documentation that was included with your computer at the time of
purchase.
3. Locate an empty PCI slot, removing the metal bracket covering the accompanying empty
port/socket.
4. Position the serial card above the open PCI slot, ensuring that the card is aligned with the
entire slot. Insert the card firmly into the slot, distributing force evenly across the length
of the board. Once inserted, secure the card into the adjoining socket (previously covered
by metal bracket), using the correct size screw (please consult documentation that
accompanied purchase of computer).
5. Replace the computer cover and re-connect all power to the computer.
Installing the drivers
Windows
Upon rebooting the computer for the first time following the installation of the serial card,
Windows will notify you that new hardware has been detected. At this time, you will be
prompted for driver installation.
1. Select Install from a specific location, insert the Driver CD and click Next.
2. At the screen that follows, select Search for the best drivers in these locations, and place a
checkmark next to Include this location in the search. Ensure that the proper file path has
been specified, then click Next.
3. Windows will then notify you that the software being installed has not passed the Windows
Logo testing process. Please disregard this warning, and click Continue Anyway.
4. Windows will then proceed with installing the serial card. When complete, you will be notified
that the wizard has finished installation. Please click Finish.
5. Once the card has been installed, Windows will require that the same steps be followed in
order to install the serial ports. As such, to complete installation, please repeat steps #1-4.
For PCI2S950DV, the second serial port will require installation, which will automatically
launch following installation of the first port. As such, if you are installing PCI2S950DV, you
will be required to follow steps #1-4 a third time.
