5. Connect the enclosure to the host computer system via FireWire or USB cable. If
using the USB Y-cable, make sure to connect the primary connector on the cable to
the host computer. The secondary connector is optional (extra power only).
OPTIONAL: If the SATA drive/enclosure does not power up or is intermittent,
additional power may need to be supplied. If using the USB Y-cable, connect the
secondary connector on the cable to an available USB port on the host computer. If
connecting via FireWire, a USB power cable is supplied that connects from the DC jack
on the enclosure to an available USB port on the host computer.
Driver Installation
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8, Mac OS 9.2/10.x, or Linux/Unix
No driver installation is required for these operating systems, as this enclosure is
natively supported, so the drivers are already installed.
Using the Enclosure
Windows 2000/XP/Vista/7/8
If you are using a brand new hard drive that does not contain any data, then you
will first need to prepare the hard drive for use. From the main desktop, right-click
on “My Computer” (“Computer” in Vista), then select Manage. In the new Computer
Management window, select Disk Management from the left window panel.
