Troubleshooting
If a fault occurs, first check the points listed below before taking the unit for repair. If you are unable to
remedy a problem by following these suggestions, consult your dealer or service centre.
Warning: Under no circumstances should you try to repair the set yourself, as this would invalidate your
guarantee.
PROBLEM
Poor sound guaiitv
- CAUSE
• SOLUTION
- Headphones plug not fully inserted
• Insert plug fully
No power
Severe radio hum or noise
- Wrong battery polarity
• Insert batteries correctly
- FM aerial not fully extended
• Extend FM aerial (headphones wire) fully
- Batteries exhausted
• Replace batteries
- Set too close to TV, VCR or computer
• Move set away from TV, VCR, or computer
Hum when using mains adaptor
Poor cassette sound quality
Adaptor used is not a regulated type
Use Philips SBC6650 or other standard regulated
3V DC adaptor
No sound
- Tape head dirty
• Clean tape head
Auto reverse occurs before the end of the tape
Volume is not turned up
Turn up volume
Headphones not connected
Connect headphones plug into headphones

- Too high friction on tape
• Try fast winding tape once
