Kessick ‘Estate Series’ Installation Instructions
The Kessick ‘Estate Series’ wine cellar components are fully assembled wine racks built in a frameless European box
construction. An installation rail is integrated into the top/back of each unit for fastening to a wall surface. All standard
components are ready to install right out of the box. Custom components may require some assembly and will come
with specific assembly instructions.
Basic carpentry skills and tools are necessary for installation.
Review the wine cellar designs and confirm all components and accessories are accounted for and are the correct
dimensions.
Using the design measurements of the Base components, confirm the location of each rack and the overall fit. Measure
and confirm the wall units that sit on the designated Bases.
Note how the corners will fit and how they will be fastened (overlapped, spacer block in corner, filler piece, etc.).
o
Using the provided 3” base platform material, cut, assemble and install the base platform in the footprint of the wine cellar
racks. The standard depth of the racks is 11.75”. Review the design and verify measurements for double deep racks,
peninsulas, quarter round displays, curved corners and custom racks.
*Important! Confirm the base platform is level by using shims or scribing as needed.
On a level Base Platform set the Base Units, securing them side by side (quick grip clamps) with 1 ¼” cabinet screws. Place
screws in locations that are not easily seen, like under a lower shelf, etc.
Using the Installation Rails on the upper back of Base Unit secure to wall using appropriate screw for wall surface. You may
have to apply shims to achieve a plumb wine rack face.
Review the supplied wine cellar designs and dimensions confirming all components and accessories listed are accounted
for.
o
According to the design, place the wall unit on top of the corresponding base unit securing them side by side (quick grip
clamps) with 1 ¼” cabinet screws. Place screws in locations that are not easily seen.
Using the Installation Rails on the upper back of Wall Unit, secure to wall using appropriate screw for wall surface. You may
have to apply shims to achieve a plumb wine rack face.
*If you are installing a countertop between base and wall units, use spacers to elevate the wall unit (spacers not provided)
to the countertop thickness. Countertop can slide under wall units or but to face.
Secure base units to wall units with 1 ¼” cabinet screws from base unit stringers (top supports) into the bottom of the wall
units.
If applicable, install LED lighting provided. Many components may be pre-wired with lighting. LED is low voltage and is polar
sensitive. Red is (+), Black is (-), touching both wires together will short-out the entire circuit. Typical installation: 120V
transformer is plugged into wall outlet (sometimes switched), 12V side of transformer goes to dimmer switch ‘in’ (via small
gauge (+) and (–) wires), ‘out’ side of dimmer switch feeds wire to start of LED circuit. Note: Dimmer switch can also act as
on/off switch.
o
Install filler pieces in corners or between units as necessary.
Apply baseboard, fascia, top cap/crown and decorative moldings as applicable.
Install face cap horizontally and vertically over plywood seams using a pin nailer.
