Controls in detail
Locking and unlocking
Unlocking and opening the trunk
You can unlock the trunk separately.
A minimum height clearance of
5.5 ft (1.65 m) is required to open the
trunk lid.
̈ Press and hold button Š until the
trunk lid unlocks and opens slightly.
Checking the batteries
̈ Press button ‹ or Œ.
Battery check lamp 5 ( ୴ page 98)
comes on briefly to indicate that the
SmartKey batteries are in order.
Loss of SmartKey or mechanical key
If you lose a SmartKey or mechanical key,
you should do the following:
̈ Have the SmartKey deactivated by an
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
̈ Report the loss of the SmartKey or the
mechanical key immediately to your
car insurance company.
̈ If necessary, have the trunk lock
replaced.
Your authorized Mercedes-Benz Center
will be glad to supply you with a
replacement.
Opening the doors
Opening from the outside
For information on opening the doors from
the outside, see “Getting started”
(
୴ page 38).
Opening from the inside
You can open a locked door from the in-
side. Open the door only if the vehicle is
stationary and when conditions are safe to
do so.
1 Inside door handle
i If battery check lamp 5 does not come on
briefly during check, then the SmartKey
batteries are discharged.
Replace the batteries ( ୴ page 357).
You can obtain the required batteries at any
authorized Mercedes-Benz Center.
i If the batteries are checked within signal
range of the vehicle, pressing button ‹
or Πwill lock or unlock the vehicle
accordingly.
