SERVICE AND ADJUSTMENTS

CAUTIO N: BEFO RE PERFO RM ING ANY SERVICE OR ADJUSTM ENTS:
•
Release control bar.
•
M ake sure the blade and all m oving parts have com pletely stopped.
" Disconnect spark plyg wire from spark plug and place where it cannot com e in contact with plug.

section of this m anual.
DISCHARGE GUARD
The discharge guard, attached to the discharge opening of
your lawn m ower, is provided to prevent the possibility of
injury resulting from objects being thrown out of the dis
charge opening into the operator m owing position. If
the
discharge guard becom es dam aged, itshould be replaced.
TO REMOVE/REPLACE DRIVE BELT
(See Fig. 16)
•
Rem ove drive cover. Rem ove belt by pushing down
on gear case pulley.
•
Turn lawn m ower on its side with carburetor and fuel
cap up.
•
Rem ove blade.
® Rem ove debris shield.
" Rem ove belt from engine pulley on crankshaft.
•
install new belt by reversing above steps.
•
Always use factory approved belt to assure fit and
long life.
TO ADJUST DRIVE CONTROL CABLE
(See Fig. 17)
A drive control cable that needs adjustm ent will keep your
lawn m ower from self-propelling properly and can also
cause gear case com ponents to wear out sooner.
- Rem ove drive cover,
•
Loosen cable clam p screw "A" and nuts "B" and "C".
•
Hold down operator presence control bar to handle
and engage drive control.
•
M ove shifter arm to drive position while rotating front
wheels to be sure Jawclutch Is engaged. Pull threaded
sleeve with pliers. Do not pull on control cable.
•
Tighten nut "C" until sleeve is snug.
•
Tighten screw "A“ and nut "B".
» Push lawn m ower back and forth to be sure gear case
is engaged.
•
Replace drive cover.
•
Release operator presence control bar.

REAR DEFLECTOR
The rear deflector, attached between the rear wheels of
your lawn m ower, is provided to m inim ize the possibility
that objects will be thrown out the rear of the lawn m ower
into the operator's m owing position.
If the rear deflector becom es dam aged, it should be
replaced.
