TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
PROBLEM
CAUSE
CORRECTION
Will not start
• Out of fuel.
• Fill fuel tank.
• Engine not “CHOKED” prop
erly.
• See “TO START ENGINE” in
Operation section.
• Engine flooded.
• Wait several minutes before
attempting to start.
• Bad spark plug.
• Replace spark plug.
• Dirty air filter.
• Clean/replace air fitter.
• Dirty fuel filter.
• Replace fuel filter.
• Water in fuel.
• Drain fuel tank and carburetor,
refill tank with fresh
gasoline ar)d replace fuel filter.
• Loose or deimaged wiling.
• Check all wiring.
• Carburetor out of adjustment.

section.
• Engine valves out of adjust
ment.
• Contact an authorized service
center.
Hard to start
• Dirty air filter.
• Clean/replace air filter.
• Bad spark plug.

• Weak or dead battery.
• Recharge or replace battery.
• Dirty fuel filter.

• Stale or dirty fuel.
• Drain fijel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
• Loose or damaged wiring.
• Check ait wiring.

over
• Clufa^Vbrake pedal not

• Depress clutch/brake pedal.
• Attachment clutch is engaged.
• Disengage attachment clutch.
• Weak or dead battery.
• Recharge or replace battery.
• Blown fuse.
• Replace fuse.
• Corroded battery terminals.
• Clean battery terminals.
• Loose or damaged wiring.
• Check all wiring.
• Faulty ignition switch.
• Check/replace ignition switch.
• Faulty solenoid or starter.
• Check/replace solenoid or
starter.
• Faulty operator presence
switch(es).
• Contact an authorized service

Engine clicks but will
