Removing the System Board
1.
Follow the procedures in
Before You Begin
.
2.
Remove the computer cover (see
Removing the Computer Cover
).
3.
Remove any PCI and PCI Express cards on the system board (see
Removing PCI and PCI Express Cards
).
4.
Remove the processor fan and heat sink assembly (see
Removing the Processor Fan and Heat Sink Assembly
).
5.
Remove the processor (see
Removing the Processor
).
6.
Remove the memory modules (see
Removing the Memory Module(s)
) and document which memory module is removed from each memory-module
connector so that the memory modules can be installed in the same location after the board is replaced.
7.
Disconnect all cables from the system board. Note the routing of all cables as you remove them so that you can re-route them correctly after installing
the new system board.
8.
Remove the eight screws that secure the system board to the chassis.
9.
Lift the system board up and out of the chassis.
