2 Notes on safety
The actuator is accompanised by an EC Manufac-
turer’s Declaration in consensus with the EC Machin-
ery Directive 3/392/EC Attachment II B.
This operating manual contains fundamental informa-
tion which is to be observed during installation, op-
eration and maintenance. It must therefore be read
before installation and commissioning.
General hazard symbol!
Peoples may be put at risk.
Safety symbol ! The valve and its function
may be put at risk if this safety symbol is not
observed.
It is imperative to observe warnings and signs at-
tached directly to the actuator and they are to be kept
fully legible.
The operational reliability of the actuator supplied is
only guaranteed if it is used properly in accordance
with Section 1.1 of this operating manual.
The mounting, the pneumatic connection and the
installation of the actuator are to be performed by
qualified staff according to the described instructions
in the manual.
Non-observance of the notes on safety may result
in the loss of any and all claims for damages.
2.1 For the customer/operator
Pneumatic quarter turn actuators can produce a very
high torque.
In order to avoid accidents please pay attention to:
the safety precautions in this manual,
the national and international safety regulations,
internal working, operating and safety regulations
of the operating company.
2.2 For the maintenance
As far as dangerous or environmental criti-
cal media is dealt with, safety and danger
notes in the manual of the according valve
have to be observed.
The mounting and other work on the actuator
must be carried out without the compressed air
supply.
Ensure that the actuator moves in the desired
rotational direction.
Never operate the actuator with a loosen or with-
out ascrew connection to the valve.
On completion of work, all safety and protective
equipment must immediately refitted resp. reacti-
vated.
Before reoperation attention has to be paid to the
instructions in Section 4 .
2.3 Unauthorized reconstruction
and manufacture of spare
parts
Reconstruction or alterations to the actuator are only
permissible with the agreement of the manufacturer.
Additional drillings in the body and also other manipu-
lations lead to the loss of warranty.
Only original spare parts are authorized.
