RAID Controller Replacement Guide
for PRO FC and PRO IDC

This document applies to Dulce Systems Fibre Channel RAID storage systems designed with removable
RAID Controller modules, if there is a handle as shown below on the controller module than the
controller module is removable.
Replacing the removable RAID Controller is a two step process. First is to physically replace the
controller, then followed by reloading the RAID configuration. The RAID information is stored on the
RAID Controller and on the disk drives, since the controller is being replaced, the RAID information will
need to be reloaded form the disks. The 2

part of this guide covers the reloading steps.
CONTROLLER REPLACEMENT:
1.
Dismount PRO FC/IDC or turn off the computer, turn of the PRO FC or PRO IDC.
2.
Note all Fibre Channels and Ethernet connections, they will be reconnected in the same
positions after controller replacement.
3.
Disconnect the FC cables and SFP transceivers, also the Ethernet cable if connected.
4.
Loosen the controller captive screw located at the upper left of controller tray.
5.
Use the handle to pull out the RAID Controller.
6.
Insert the replacement controller.
7.
Seat controller fully by using left and right thumbs to push at the lower left and right corners.
8.
Secure the controller captive screw.
9.
Reconnect the Fibre Channel SFP/cables and the Ethernet.
10.
Turn on the unit.
RELOAD RAID CONFIGURATION:
1.
Start the RAID Manager and login to the unit.
2.
Click on Administration > Service Options > Controller Services > Restore COD.
3.
Click OK on the Warning, controller will reboot and load your RAID setting that are stored on the
disks.
4.
Reboot computer to mount the RAID.
