Harley-Davidson ® pinion shaft #24006-87 and snap ring #11177 used with S&S ® flywheels, BL or SL style, can be installed using older
pinion main bearing assembly, H-D ® #24650-58. Open side of cages must point towards end of shaft and both washers located adjacent
to snap ring.
New style H-D ® pinion main bearing assembly #24626-87, #24628-87, #24641-81 or #24643-87 can be used with H-D ® pinion shaft
#24006-87 and snap ring #11177 with S&S flywheels, BL or SL style, in cases from mid 1981 to 1986 also. No thrust washers are used.
Bearings must be fit to crankcase race according to 1987 procedures.
H-D ® pinion shaft #24006-83 and snap ring #11007 used in S&S flywheels, BL or SL style, must use older style pinion main bearing
assembly, H-D ® #24650-58. One thrust washer will be eliminated.
