Unless otherwise specified by the customer at time of order, the
oil pump cover presently supplied with ‘84-up engines is
compatible with flexible oil lines used on most ‘84-’91 big twins
and rigid oil lines typically used on ‘92-up models. In most
applications, this cover also allows the oil pump to be removed
from the engine without removing the engine from the frame.

Picture A illustrates oil pump cover as supplied by S&S

Configuration is for most custom applications and models with
‘84-’91 type flexible oil lines.

Picture B illustrates cover with hardware installed for ‘92-up type
rigid oil lines.

Picture C illustrates elbow #31-6008, hose fitting #31-6009 and
return line compression fitting # 50-8120 supplied for conversion
to rigid, 92-up type oil lines.

To convert pump cover for use with ‘92-up type lines:

1. Remove 1/8-27 plug #31-6007 from opening closest to

engine in bottom of cover, and similar plug from opening in
face of pump cover. See Picture A.

Remove 2 each hose fittings #31-6009 from elbows #31-6008.
See Picture C. Remove elbows from top of pump cover.

3. Coat threads of plugs removed in Step 1 with thread sealant

or Teflon

tape and install in openings in top of pump cover.

Coat threads of 1 each hose fitting #31-6009 and elbow #31-
6008 with sealant/Teflon

tape. Install hose fitting in elbow

and install assembly in opening on face of pump cover as
shown in Picture B.

5. Coat threads of remaining elbow with sealant/Teflon

tape

and install in opening in bottom of pump cover. Install
compression fitting in elbow. Compression fitting should
face forward. See Picture B.

NOTE - Oil return line goes to fitting nearest center of engine. Oil
supply or feed line goes to fitting nearest outside of pump, away
from center of engine.

Failure to install fittings in correct locations will prevent
proper oil circulation resulting in engine damage not covered
under warranty.
