To improve compression sealing and reduce oil seepage, S&S is currently
supplying specially coated head gaskets for many V

2

Style applications.

These gaskets are easily identified by the rubbery coating and factory
applied silicone beads found on both sides of the gasket. Also, the oil
drain openings are approximately 0.560” in diameter, compared to the
0.700” openings in other V

2

head gaskets.

The drain dowel o-rings required with other V

2

head gaskets are

not

used with the new gaskets. Additionally, these gaskets are not compatible
with the flanged cylinder alignment dowels, Part No. 93-1000, provided
with some S&S engines and kits. Flanged dowels must be replaced with
stock type flangeless dowels, Part No. 50-8023, for proper function of
the new gaskets.

NOTE - Failure to follow these instructions will result in damage to gasket
with possible oil or compression loss.

CAUTION - Head gasket failure can cause engine damage not
covered under manufacturer’s warranty.

With the exceptions noted above, installation of the new gaskets is the
same as for other V

2

head gaskets. Torque head bolts according to

crankcase manufacturer’s instructions.

CAUTION - Improper installation of head bolts can cause gasket
failure. Excessive torque values can cause studs to pull out of
crankcase.
