Underground Medium Voltage Cable Pulling System
For

bid

considered,
documentation
of
adherence
to
the
following
specified
items
must
be
supplied
with
bid:
1.0 GENERAL DESCRIPTION
1.1 The pulling system shall have a 7500 lb pulling capacity with hydraulically driven capstan
bullwheels.
1.2 The unit shall have a constant pulling capacity of 7500 lbs w/maximum speed of 175
feet/minute
and
be
equipped
with
footage
counter
and
dynamometer
to
meter
actual
conductor
pulling
lengths
and
tensions.
1.3 The
system
shall
be
powered
by
a
liquid
cooled,
diesel
engine
(minimum
34
HP).
1.4 The
unit
shall
have
an
electronic
information
center
which
provides
digital
readout
of
pulling
tensions,
pulling
distance
and
hydraulic
pressures.
It
should
also
allow
for
preset
of
pull
tension
with
automatic
shut
off,
if
exceeded.
1.5 The unit shall have an infinitely variable joystick control for on demand payout/pullback -‐
eliminating
cable
storage
reel
over
spin
(backlash)
-‐
from
both
an
onboard
control
panel
and
a
tethered
remote
control.
1.6 The trailer shall be constructed of rugged high strength steel channel and tubing –
welded
solid
for
rigidity
and
shall
be
equipped
with
an
adjustable
pintle
eye,
mechanical
leveling
jacks,
tool
box,
electric
road
brakes
and
DOT
standard
lighting.
