3.3 Alamo Precast Gel Preparation
1) To open the gel pouch always wear
gloves! Pouch buffer contains sodium
azide. Remove the pre-cast gel cas-
settes from protective wrapping and
rinse in d.d.H2O. NOTE: the
top of the
gel has a empty space between the
glass plates. Starting with one corner
of the top of the gel, insert gradient gel
cassette into upper reservoir through
the bottom side of the slotted silicone
gaskets as shown in figures 1a & b.
2) Push gel cassette through so that the
top edge is 1 cm above gasket.
3) If running less than 4 gels, plug unused
slots with “gel slot plug(s)” entering
through bottom of reservoir as shown at
right.
