KA fl oat switches should hang freely in the tank and not be tightly tethered.
If more than one fl oat switch is to be installed in the tank, the cable fi xing
points should be separated to prevent the cables from tangling. The fl oat
switches do not need to be hung in the center of the tank — the cable can
run down a wall or corner of the tank as illustrated below.
The fl oat switches need a certain free surface to operate in. As a rule of
thumb, the swing radius to be allowed should be the same as the distance of
the weight from the bottom of the fl oat. If necessary, baffl
es or stilling wells
may have to be provided to prevent interference with other equipment.
