Appendix. CRU instructions

To replace the battery, do the following:

Turn off the computer. Disconnect the AC adapter and all cables from the computer.

Close the computer display, and turn the computer over.

Unlock the manual battery latch . Holding the spring-loaded battery latch in the
unlocked position , remove the battery pack in the direction shown by the arrow .

Install a fully charged battery.

Slide the manual battery latch to the locked position.

Turn the computer over again.

Connect the AC adapter and the cables to the computer.
Note:
•
The illustrations used in this appendix are for the Lenovo IdeaPad Y500, unless otherwise stated.
• The following steps about upgrading and replacing devices are the same for the Y400 and Y500.
• Make sure the battery has been removed before replacing any devices.
Note: Use only the battery provided by Lenovo. Any other battery could ignite or explode.
