From this interface, you do basically three things:

1. Enter the host name or IP address of the NetServer you wish to perform an

AOL2 action on.

2. Select the power action to perform (some of these actions also allow you to

gracefully shut down the NOS before performing the power option, this
Attempt Graceful Action option will be grayed if it is not supported in
conjunction with a power option).

NOTE

If the server is experiencing a NOS hang, a graceful NOS shut
down may not be possible. In that event, the server will
perform the power function without a graceful shut down.

3. Click the Send AOL Command button.

4. You may then verify that the power function was successful by running HP

TopTools and opening the page for the server (it will indicate whether your
server is up or down), or pinging the server. Refer to the Server
Management Reference Guide
included with your server to find out more
about HP TopTools.

Using AOL2 from DOS

You can issue AOL2 commands from the DOS command prompt (under
Programs | Command Prompt). This feature allows you to include commands in
batch files to send power commands to multiple NetServers. The syntax for a
DOS command is:
