Installing a half-length expansion board
1. Power down the server (on page 23 ).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend the server from the rack (on page 23 ).
4. Remove the access panel (on page 24 ).
5. Remove the PCI riser cage (on page 29 ).
6. Remove the expansion slot blank (" Removing the expansion slot blanks " on page 72 ).
7. Install the expansion board.
8. Connect any required internal or external cables to the expansion board. See the documentation that
ships with the expansion board.
9. Install the PCI riser cage (on page 30 ).
10. Install the access panel (on page 25 ).
11. Install the server into the rack (" Installing the server into the rack " on page 38 ).
12. Connect each power cord to the server.
13. Connect each power cord to the power source.
14. Power up the server (on page 23 ).
Installing a full-length expansion board
1. Power down the server (on page 23 ).
2. Remove all power:
a. Disconnect each power cord from the power source.
b. Disconnect each power cord from the server.
3. Extend the server from the rack (on page 23 ).
4. Remove the access panel (on page 24 ).
