Spark Arrester Cleaning
Allow the engine to cool completely before servicing the spark arrester.
Remove the screw holding the cover plate which retains the end of the spark arrester to the
muffler.
Remove the spark arrester screen.
Carefully remove the carbon deposits from the spark arrester screen with a wire brush.
Replace the spark arrester if it is damaged.
Position the spark arrester in the muffler and attach with the screw.
CAUTION: Failure to clean the spark arrester will result in degraded engine
performance.
STORAGE / TRANSPORT PROCEDURES
CAUTION:
Never place any type of storage cover on the generator
while it is still hot.
If the generator is being stored for short periods of time (30 – 60 days), add stabilized fuel to the
fuel tank until full. NOTE: Filling the tank reduces the amount of air in the tank and helps reduce
deterioration of fuel. Run the engine for 2 – 3 minutes allowing stabilized fuel mixture to
circulate through the carburetor.
When transporting or storing the generator for extended periods of time:
• Drain the fuel tank (see “Draining the Fuel Tank” in the “Maintenance” section).
• Disconnect the spark plug cap from the spark plug.
• Do not obstruct any ventilation openings.
• Keep the generator in a cool dry area.
