The Generator motor should NOT be running during these tests.
Each set should make a closed circuit when tested with an Ohm meter. You should get a
reading in the range of 50 to 150 Ohms from each set of windings. An open circuit indicates
that there is a break in the windings, meaning the stator is bad.
In addition, you should take Ohm readings from one set of windings to the other, and to
ground. These readings should be OPEN. If they are not open it means that the windings are
shorting out to the other coil or to ground, a condition that is usually due to the coils
overheating and melting the insulation. Check the COLOR of he coils on the rotor and stator
to see if any of them have turned blue or black. They should all be the same copper color.
Remove the Voltage Regulator by removing the 7mm screws on either end.
