The Hard-Disk Drive (HDD) Protection application protects the
notebook HDD from damage caused by sudden harmful notebook
shocks.
It monitors system movements that exceed the defined shock
threshold. Once a shock is detected, the application instructs the
HDD to temporarily park
it’s heads
which protects against
potential damage the drive. When the notebook motion stabilizes
the heads are then un-parked.

The Anti-Theft (AT) feature attempts to assist in the detection of
unwanted movement of the notebook.
When turned on the
notebook is "armed" such that subsequent notebook movement will
sound an audio alarm. A successful login or unlock of the notebook
will automatically "disarm" the alarm.
