Power Connection

Davey Silensors

®

are suitable for connection to a nominal 240 volt 50Hz power supply and are

equipped with a flex lead and 3 pin plug. If a power outlet is not available within 3 metres of

the pump, a 3 pin power point in a safe, dry place, may need to be provided by an electrician.

Extension cords are unsafe around pools - and should be avoided. If the supply cord of this

product is damaged it must be replaced by the dealer or manufacturer, with genuine Davey

spares.

Pipe Connection

A set of barrel unions are provided for connecting to the piping from the pool.

The pumps are designed to accept the following PVC pipes by fitting the pipe to either the

inside or the outside of the union tail.

If the pump and filter are located below pool water level, it is necessary

to fit isolating valves in the pipe between the pump and the skimmer box

and in the return pipe from the filter to the pool.

The fittings on this product are constructed of ABS. Some PVC jointing

compounds are incompatible with ABS. Check compound suitability

before use.

Warning! Ensure that an electrical isolation switch is located with easy

access so that the pump can be switched off in an emergency.

CAUTION:

In the interest of safety, we advise that all brands and types of pool pumps

must be installed in accordance with AS3000 wiring rules or equivalent

Davey Water Products recommends that all installations are fitted with

earth leakage or residual current protection devices.

In accordance with AS 3350.2.41 we are obliged to inform you that this

pump is not to be used by children or infirm persons and must not be

used as a toy by children.

Water Quality

Maintaining balanced water chemistry is important to the life of your pool pump. This pump is

designed to be used with Pool & Spa water, balanced in accordance with Langlier Saturation

Index, with a pH level of between 7.2 and 7.8 and is regularly treated with a chlorine sanitising

agent with the level not exceeding 3000PPM.

Please consult your local pool shop regularly to have your water tested.

Three Phase Models

Three Phase Power Connection.

Three phase models are designed for connection to a nominal 400V power supply, but must be

wired with a contactor with ‘quick-trip’ overloads set a 4.3 amps.

Davey recommend the use of overloads which also have the ability to detect “single phasing”

or “dropped phase” conditions in the power supply.

1. Remove bolt and washer (1) from the rear of the pump using a ½” socket and remove the

rear pump cover (2).

2. Carefully pull out the wiring from within the capacitor housing which is located on top of the

outer cover (3)

3. Locate the white terminal block and unscrew the wiring from the test power lead side of the

block

4. Three phase Silensor pumps have been designed to allow for connection either side of the

capacitor cover with 19mm access holes (4). Unscrew the power lead cable grommet from

the side of the capacitor housing and remove the short test power lead from the pump

5. Thread the replacement operational power lead through either of the lead holes on the

left or right hand side of the capacitor housing. Fasten the power lead into place with the

compression cable grommet. The unused hole can be sealed by inserting the plug that is

enclosed with the pump

6. Wire the operational power lead into the terminal block, same as discarded test lead

7. Check that the three phase wiring is correct by connecting the lead to power and ensure

that the motor shaft is turning correctly in a clockwise direction. A directional arrow can be

found on the rear end shield (5).

8. Carefully fit wiring and terminal block back in to the capacitor housing, ensuring that all

wires are housed so that the rear cover doesn’t pinch the wires when fitted

9. Replace rear pump cover and fasten with nut and washer.

NOTE: Three phase motors do not have capacitors fitted in the capacitor

cover.

IMPORTANT NOTE:- THREE PHASE MODELS ONLY

BEFORE FINALISING WIRING CONNECTIONS, CHECK THAT THE MOTOR ROTATES

IN DIRECTION OF ARROW (CLOCKWISE WHEN THE SHAFT IS VIEWED FROM THE

WIRING CONNECTION END). TO ALTER ROTATION, CHANGE ANY TWO POWER

LEADS AT MOTOR TERMINALS.
