INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
FOR MODEL 4000 & 4005 (2 INCH)
STEERING WHEEL EXTENSION KIT
NOTES:
Before proceeding with any installation procedures read all cautions, notes, instructions and supplements
including those of the installation kit, steering wheel and this extension kit.
Model 4000 is designed to be used with GRANT 3-bolt and 5-bolt steering wheels and has been
preassembled at the factory prior to shipping. To prepare for installation, you must remove the top plate
from the extension base. To do this remove the five (5) Allen screws and then remove the three (3) ¼” cap
screws from the top plate as well.
Model 4005 is designed to be used with MOMO steering wheels (or those wheels having the MOMO 6-bolt
mounting pattern). This will adapt the 6-bolt wheel to the Grant 3-bolt mounting kit.
INSTALLATION
1. Follow the instructions that came with your installation kit through the step for post cover installation.
Position the extension base with the rubber boot onto the post cover/hub assembly noting that “TOP” is
oriented properly, thread the lead wire(s) through as required.
2. Using the three (3) ¼” cap screws provided (previously removed from the top plate) secure the
extension base to the hub. Check to see that all components are in the proper position before
tightening the bolts. If positioned correctly install the steering wheel retainer nut (or bolt) and tighten
securely to 25-30 ft/lbs. Tighten the ¼” cap screws to 10-12ft/lbs DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN.
3. If extending a 3-bolt GRANT wheel, install the top plate removed earlier by aligning the hole with the “T”
to the top and thread the lead wire(s) through as required. Reinstall the five (5) Allen screws and tighten
securely. NOTE: If the wires are not long enough use the wire(s) and splices supplied to extend them.
If using with a 5-bolt or 6-bolt wheel proceed to step 4.
4. Install Steering Wheel – Depending what Form number instruction sheet came with your installation kit
proceed to the step(s) to mount the wheel and horn button (delete the step for installing the center nut
onto shaft).
