Connecting a cable converter box and a VCR
With this connection you can:
• watch videotapes
• watch and record basic and premium cable channels
• record one channel while watching the same or another
basic channel
Tune the VCR to channel
3 or 4 (whichever channel is vacant
in your area), place the TV in
VIDEO 1 mode, and then use the
converter box to change channels.
You will need:
• one cable signal splitter
• four coaxial cables
• one set of standard A/V cables

With this connection you can:

• record one TV channel while watching
the same or another channel
You will need:
• three coaxial cables
• two sets of standard A/V cables
Note:
To watch satellite programs, the TV must select
VIDEO-1 (see page 16).
To watch VCR programs, the TV must select
VIDEO-2 (see page 16).
For better picture quality, if your device has S-video,
you can use an S-video cable (plus the standard
audio cables) instead of the standard video cable. Do
not connect a standard video cable and an S-video
cable to VIDEO-1 at the same time or the picture
performance will be unacceptable.
The unauthorized recording, use, distribution, or revision of
television programs, videotapes, DVDs, and other materials
is prohibited under the Copyright Laws of the United States
and other countries, and may subject you to civil and
criminal liability.
Note:
If you have a mono VCR, connect TV L/Mono Audio IN
to VCR Audio OUT using only one audio cable.
When you use a converter box with your TV, you
may not be able to use the remote control to program
certain features (for example, blocking channels).
For better quality, if your VCR has S-video, you can use an
S-video cable (plus the standard audio cables) instead of the
standard video cable. Do not connect a standard video cable
and an S-video cable to VIDEO-1 at the same time or the
picture performance will be unacceptable.
