PREPARATION
INSTALLING BATTERIES/SETUP
You need eight AAA batteries (not supplied) to power the
system. For the longest operation and best performance, we
recommend alkaline batteries, such as RadioShack Cat. No.
23-558.
Cautions:
• Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recom-
mended type.
• Do not mix old and new batteries, different types of bat-
teries (standard, alkaline, or rechargeable), or re-
chargeable batteries of different capacities.
Follow these steps to install batteries and select the display
language, area code, year, day, date, and time.
Note: To change any of the settings (for example, area code
or year), you must start from Step 1.
1. Unplug the system from the phone line.
2. Set L1/L2 on the side of the system to L2 .
