with the fr

oups, and

configuration data for appr

oximately 350 trunked

radio systems in the United States. The scanner’

working memory and V

-Scanner folder “00” ar

e

not pr

Each V

-Scanner folder can hold up to 1800

“scannable objects,” gr

ouped in up to 20

Scan Lists. Each V

-Scanner folder can contain

appr

oximately 20 individual trunked radio

systems, or sites within networked systems,

leaving r

oom to spar

pr

ogramming.

The pr

epr
ogrammed data in your scanner contains

the top public safety trunked radio systems in the

United States, those that ar

e most likely to carry

local radio traffic that is of inter

est to many users.

Non-public safety systems, airport systems, transit

systems, federal systems, military systems, and

lar
ge statewide trunked radio networks ar

e not

included in the pr

epr
ogrammed data.

The pr

epr

ogrammed data contains the talkgr

oups

that ar

e used for day-to-day public safety

dispatch, r

esponse, and operations activities.

Administrative talkgr

oups and talkgr

oups

unr
elated to public safety ar

e not included in the

pr

epr

ogrammed data.

Radio System

It is not possible to include every trunked radio

system and talkgr

oup in the United States in

the pr

epr

ogrammed data. If the systems in your

ar

ea ar

e not pr

esent, you may find it useful to

visit

www

.radior

efer

ence.com to find your local

system so that you can add it to the radio’

s

pr

ogramming. Y

ou can also pr

ogram a “wildcar

d”

talkgr

oup that will allow you to hear all activity on

the trunked radio systems that you monitor

.

The easiest way to add a wildcar

d talkgr

oup is to

duplicate a talkgr

oup that is alr

eady pr

ogrammed

for the system, change the pertinent data for that

talkgr

oup (in this case, the ID and the T

ag), then

save the duplicated (and changed) talkgr

oup as a

new object.

1.

Pr

ess

PGM (PROG),

then use the

STWX

keys to navigate to any talkgr

oup on the

system wher

e you wish to add a talkgr

oup or

wildcar

d.

2.

Pr

ess the

EDIT

softkey

, then pr

ess the

DUPE

softkey

. A duplicate of the selected object is

cr

eated in memory

.

3.

Scr
oll to the

ID:

field and pr

ess the

Dflt

softkey

, which will set the ID field to

“W

ildcar

d.”
