Description

The CAB

ª

8i and CAB

ª

8o,

respectively, are eight-input and eight-
output MediaMatrix

¨

gateways onto and

off of an Ethernet network for real-time
MediaMatrix

¨

audio distribution and

control. They employ Cobranet proprietary
protocol to ensure seamless, error-free
transmission of high-quality real-time
audio without drop-outs or lossy
compression across a 100baseT Ethernet
network.

The CAB

ª

8i uploads eight channels of

either microphone-level or line-level
analog audio signals onto an Ethernet
network. Each input channel has software
controlled, continuously variable analog
input gain from -9 dB to +60 dB in 1 dB
steps. Each has 48-volt phantom power
and a 20 dB mic/line pad. Both functions
are software switchable.

The CAB 8o downloads eight channels

of line-level analog audio signals from an
Ethernet network. Maximum output levels
are individually jumper-selectable between
+24 dBu, +18 dBu, +12 dBu, and +6 dBu.

In addition to eight input or output audio

paths, both products incorporate eight
voltage-control input ports, eight software
controlled TTL outputs port, eight software
controlled relays with both normally open
and normally closed contacts, an RS-485
port with multi-drop connections, and two
word-clock linking BNC connectors.

Features

¥ Eight channels of either microphone

or line-level audio transmitted onto
an Ethernet network using CobraNet

ª

protocol sampled at 48 kHz (CAB 8i).

¥ Eight channels of line-level audio

transmitted from an Ethernet network
using CobraNet protocol sampled at
48 kHz (CAB 8o).

¥ A/D converters are 24-bit, 64 times

oversampling, using delta-sigma
modulation (CAB 8i).

¥ D/A converters are 24-bit, 128 times

oversampling, using delta-sigma
modulation (CAB 8o).

¥ 48-volt phantom power for microphone

inputs, individually software switchable
on each input channel (CAB 8i).

¥ 24- or 20-bit transmission quantization

at a 48 kHz sampling rate.

¥ Eight channels of analog control voltage

input ports which allow external
switches, potentiometers, or voltage
sources to control MediaMatrix software
parameters via an Ethernet link.

¥ Eight channels of TTL control outputs

ports which are software controllable via
an Ethernet link.

¥ Eight relays, with both normally open

and normally closed contacts, which
allow software control of external
devices via an Ethernet link.

¥ A non-Ethernet RS-485 control port with

two mulit-drop connections.

¥ Two word clock linking connectors that

enable auto-switch-over to a second
unit, should one unit fail.

¥ One rack-unit (1-3/4"), fan-cooled

chassis.

¥ Stadiums
¥ Cruise ships
¥ Multi-purpose facilities
¥ Auditoriums
¥ Large-scale paging systems
¥ Schools
¥ Courts of law
¥ University campus buildings
¥ Theme parks
¥ Performing arts centers
¥ Distance learning
¥ Hotel meeting rooms
¥ Houses of worship
¥ Conference centers
