Section 2: Operating Instructions
Operator’s Responsibilities
Hazard control and accident prevention are dependent
upon the awareness, concern, prudence and proper
training involved in the operation, transport, storage, and
maintenance of the Box Scraper. Therefore, it is
absolutely essential that no one operates the Box
Scraper without first having read, fully understood, and
become totally familiar with the Operator’s Manual. Make
sure the operator has completed the Operating Checklist
below.

Inspections
Make the following inspections with scraper attached to a
tractor, tractor park brake engaged, tractor engine shut
off and switch key remove.
Safety Information

DANGER
Make adjustments to the Retractable Box Scraper after it has
been properly attached to a tractor and secured with solid
supports in the up position
.
Never work around or under
equipment supported by hydraulics. Hydraulics can drop
equipment instantly if controls are actuated or if hydraulic
lines burst even when power to hydraulics is shut off.

Inspect tractor safety equipment to make sure it is in
good working condition.

Make sure their are no hydraulic leaks on the unit.
Refer to "Avoid High Pressure Fluids Hazard".
Check shank depth. Refer to Shank Adjustments
Check scraper levelness and pitch.
Refer to "Level and Pitch Adjustment".
Check cutting blades for wear. Turn blade over or
replace as needed. Refer to "Cutting Blades".
Check shank tips for tightness and wear. Replace
shank tips as needed. Refer to "Shank Tips".
Check scraper initially and periodically for loose bolts
and pins. Refer to "Torque Values Chart" for torque
values.
Check for worn, bent, broken, loose, and/or missing
parts. Replace or repair parts as needed.

Manual
Restart tractor and carefully raise and lower implement
to ensure drawbar, tires, and other tractor parts do not
make contact with the Retractable Box Scraper.
Refer to "3-Point Hook-up", step #5.

DANGER
Make all hydraulic adjustments from the tractor seat. Never
make adjustments while standing along side the tractor or
behind the tractor.
!
DANGER
Hydraulic fluid under high pressure can penetrate skin. Wear
protective gloves and safety glasses or goggles when working
with hydraulic systems. Use a piece of cardboard or wood
rather than hands when searching for hydraulic leaks. If
hydraulic fluid is injected into the skin or eyes, it must be
treated by a doctor familiar with this type of injury within a
few hours or gangrene may result. DO NOT DELAY.

DANGER
Never carry a person on the scraper. A person can fall and be
ran over causing serious injury or death.
!
WARNING
Do not allow anyone to operate this Retractable Box Scraper
who is under the age of 16 or has not been properly trained in
its safe operation. Allowing someone to operate the scraper
who is too young or has not been properly trained could result
in damage to the scraper, serious bodily injury, or death.

WARNING
It is the operator’s responsibility not to allow anyone near the
Retractable Box Scraper during its operation.
!
WARNING
Never allow riders including children on the tractor or
scraper. They can fall and be ran over causing serious injury
or death.
!
WARNING
Do not alter the Retractable Box Scraper. Altering the scraper
can adversely affect its performance and reliability causing
damage to the scraper, tractor, and/or bodily injury. Always
replace damaged parts with original Land Pride parts.
!
WARNING
Use the Retractable Box Scraper for its intended purpose only.
Never use the scraper to pull, lift, tow, or carry other
equipment or objects. Doing any of the above could result in
damage to the scraper, serious bodily injury, or death.
!
CAUTION
Always keep your feet and legs out from under the shanks
while adjusting them. It is possible for the shanks to fall
causing injury to your feet and/or legs.
