The Klimax is a single speaker power amplifier designed for use in multi
amplifier and multi channel audio and audio/video systems. The case is
precision machined from two solid sections of aluminium alloy. The machining
is done on a computer controlled multi-axis machining centre, with the final
cut on the top face made by a Swiss SIP vertical jig borer, the stability and
accuracy of which is unequalled. This compact but massive case protects
and stabilises the internal electronics and forms the heat exchanger to
dissipate the power from the amplifier circuitry. Inside the case are two
circuit boards, one on each side of the central heat exchanger. One circuit
board constitutes the power supply, the other the audio circuitry.
The compact form of the Klimax case reflects our intention to keep the
audio signal path as short and simple as possible. This applies as much to
a turntable pickup arm as it does to a power amplifier. Applying this rule
rigorously results in high density circuitry which generates and receives the
absolute minimum level of electrical noise. All our previous power amplifiers
have been as compact as the available technology permitted, but in the
Klimax we have taken a significant step forward with the new power supply
that makes the Klimax possible.
