Cutter Bar Timing Adjustment
Removal of disc shaft assemblies
Refer to Figure 4-3:
1. Rotate the long axis of the discs adjacent to the
replaced shaft assembly 90 degrees to the long axis of
the cutter bar.
2. Line up the new gear’s mounting holes with holes in
the cutter bar. Rotate gear so that the axis of two of the
disc mounting holes are 90 degrees to the long axis of
the cutting bar (figure 4-3). Try sliding gear into place.
This step may need to be repeated, using the nest pair
of holes until the gear will slide into place. Apply
sealant between gear assembly housing and cutter
bar then bolt housing into place.
3. When gear is lined up correctly, the disc will now
mount to the gear with it’s long axis parallel to the long
axis of the cutter bar (90 degrees to the axis of the
adjacent discs).
