INSPECTION Inspect the entire
blower and tubes for damage,
including loose or missing compo-
nents, and repair as necessary.
■
FUEL FILTER Use a hooked wire to
extract the fuel fi lter from inside the
fuel tank.
(more frequently if reduced perfor-
mance is noted)
■
Inspect the fi lter element for signs
of contamination from debris. A
contaminated fuel fi lter should be
replaced with a new shindaiwa
replacement element. Before rein-
stalling the fi lter, inspect the con-
dition of the fuel line. If you note
damage or deterioration, the blower
should be removed from service
until it can be inspected by a shin-
daiwa-trained service technician.

COOLING SYSTEM Use a wood
or plastic scraper and a soft brush
to remove dirt and debris from the
cylinder fi ns and crankcase.
Every 50 Hours
CAUTION!
Make sure you do not pierce the fuel
line with the end of the hooked wire.
The line is delicate and can be dam-
aged easily.

Remove the Muffl er.
1. Use the 4mm hex wrench to remove
the fi ve engine cover screws, and
then slide the cover from the engine.
2. Use the 5mm hex wrench to remove
the four muffl er screws, and then
remove the muffl er assembly from
the engine.
Remove the Spark Arrester.
3. Use the screwdriver to remove the
two exhaust tube mounting screws,
and then remove the tail cap,
exhaust tube, gasket, and arrester
screen.
4. Use a plastic scraper or wire brush
to remove carbon deposits from
the arrester screen and wipe clean
exhaust base.
5. Inspect the screen carefully, and
replace any screen that has been
perforated, distorted, or is otherwise
unserviceable.
6. Gently tap the muffl er on a wood
surface to dislodge any loose
carbon.
7. Inspect the cylinder exhaust port for
carbon buildup.
IMPORTANT!
Reset the muffl er screw retaining tabs
to prevent the muffl er screws from
loosening.
IMPORTANT!
If you note excessive carbon buildup,
consult your servicing dealer.
8. Reassemble the muffl er in the
reverse order of disassembly.
Every 135 hours of operation, remove
and clean the muffl er.
WARNING!
Never operate this blower
with a damaged or missing muffl er
or spark arrester! Operating with
missing or damaged exhaust com-
ponents is a fi re hazard, and can
also damage your hearing!
