AMC 870
HIGH PERFORMANCE IN-WALL LOUDSPEAKER
BASED ON THE D7 TOWER
The AMC 870 is a high performance, in-wall LCR, based on our highly
regarded D7 tower. The same components are mounted in a fully enclosed,
easy to mount aluminum enclosure, giving you near free-standing tower
performance from an in-wall solution. AMC 870 is a 6.5-inch, D’Appolito
Array, designed by Snell chief engineer, Joe D’Appolito. In 1990, Snell
developed the first “back-boxed” in-walls designed to mount flush in
typical 2” x 4” walls. The evolution of this technique corrects for the
problems associated with all in-wall installations. The fully enclosed cabinet
defines bass performance and reduces sound transfer to adjacent rooms,
while the non-plastic, three part baffle quiets cabinet resonance, which in
turn reduces vibration to the wall materials. The twin 6.5-inch long throw
woofers provide extended bass and plenty of output, and the 1-inch
low-resonance, silk dome tweeter enables a large sweet spot for better
stereo imaging. The AMC 870 is capable of tremendous impact, and realistic
soundstaging. It is the perfect speaker for any high performance music or
video system. It is living proof that sound quality without compromise can
be delivered unobtrusively.
