Connectthespeakerwirestobothsetsof
terminalsoneachspeaker,observingcorrect
polarityandmakingsurethatthetweeterand
wooferwirescorrespondtothecorrectterminals
onboththespeakerandthecrossover.
Securethespeakerandspacergasket(if
applicable)tothepanelbyevenlytightening
byhandmountingscrews.Usethesupplied
mountingclipsandthetheprovided#8x1.25
inch(32mm)mountingscrewsunlessthe
factoryholesalreadyfeaturethreadedinserts.
Custom location:Runspeakerwiretothe
desiredmountinglocations.Ifyouarerunning
wiresintoadoor,useexistingfactorywiringboots
wheneverpossible.Ifyouaredrillingnewholes,file
theiredgesandinstallrubbergrommetsintoeach
hole.Wiresshouldthenbecoveredwithaprotective,
flexiblePVCsleeveandthenrunthroughthedoor
jamb.Makesurethatthewireswillcleardoorhinges
andotherstructuresinthedoor.Ifyouareunsure
aboutanypartofthisprocess,pleasecontactyour
JLAudiodealerforinstallationhelp.
Selectanevensurface.Tighteningaspeakeronto
anunevensurfacecandamageit.Usethesupplied
templatetomarkthedesiredmountinglocation.
Markthecenterandtheoutlineofthemounting
holeaswellasthemountingscrewpositions.
Beforedrillingorcuttingonyourinteriorpanels,
useautilityknifetocutanyfabric,vinylorleather
fromholelocations.Thesematerialscaneasily
besnaggedbyadrillorasaw,causingdamageto
thepanelandpossiblebodilyinjury.Drillfour
1/8-inch(3mm)holesforthespeaker’smounting
screwsatthepositionsyouhavemarked.Alsodrill
apilotholeinthecenterofthespeakermounting
holeatthistime.Then,usingasabersaw,make
thecircularcutoutforthespeaker.Fileanyrough
edges.Insertthemountingclipswiththeflatside
towardsthespeakerasshowninDiagramI.
Itisabsolutelyvitalthatthespeakerframe
fitsintothemountingholecleanly.Thismustbe

Thewoofersshouldbeinstalledinoneofthe
followingwaysdependingonlocation:
Factory location:Ifyouwillbeusingthefactory
speakerwires,itmaybenecessarytochangethe
terminations.Thismaybeaccomplishedbyusing
anadaptorplugorsimplybycuttingthefactory
connectoroffandusingthesuppliedcrimp
connectorstoterminatethespeakerwires.The
largeconnectorisforthepositive(+)terminaland
thesmallconnectorisforthenegative(–)terminal
ofeachwoofer.Keepinmindthatthewooferwires
mustbeconnectedtothewooferoutputsofthe
crossoverssuppliedwithyoursystemasshowninthe
diagramonpage5.Ifyouprefertorunnewwires,
refertothe“CustomLocation”installationsection
fordetails.Whichevermethodyouchoose,observe
correctpolarityinyourconnections.Ifyouare
unsureaboutanyoftheseissues,contactyour
JLAudiodealerforinstallationassistance.
Yournewspeakershavebeendesigned
toinstall,withoutmodifications,intomost
vehiclesthataccepta5x7-inch(125x180mm)
speaker.Mostfactory5x7-inchspeakersuse
fourmountingscrewswhichwilllineupwith
themountingholesonyourspeakers.
Aspacergaskethasbeenincludedtofine-tune
speakerfitment.Thisgasketcanbemountedonthe
frontofthemountingflange,thebackofthemounting
flangeorsimplynotbeusedintheinstallation.
Itisabsolutelyvitalthatthespeakerframe
fitsintothemountingholecleanly.Thismustbe
checkedpriortotighteningthescrews.Donot
forcetheframeintoaholethatistoosmall.Do
nottightenthespeakerontoanunevensurface.
Thiswilldamageyourspeakers.Thespeaker
shouldalsofitsothatairdoesnotleakaround
themountingflange.Airleakswillcauseasevere
degradationinsoundquality.Sealanyairleaks
withanautomotive-gradesealantmaterial.
