Introduction
We know you are eager to get your Multi-Tech modem up and running, so we’ll skip the
features for now, and show you how to set it up and install it on your computer. For a
more detailed description of your modem’s features, please refer to the

Before starting, please make sure you have everything you need:

One modular telephone cable

An installation CD (which includes this User Guide)
You supply

A computer with an unused USB port and Mac OS 8.5 or higher

A nearby telephone line jack

Safety Warnings
Before you begin connecting your modem, please read through the following safety
instructions:
•
This product is to be used with UL- and CUL-listed computers.
•
Never install telephone wiring during a lightning storm.
•
Never install a telephone jack in a wet location unless the jack is specifically
designed for wet locations.
•
Never touch uninsulated telephone wires or terminals unless the telephone line has
been disconnected at the network interface.
•
Use caution when installing or modifying telephone lines.
•
Avoid using a telephone (other than a cordless type) during an electrical storm.
There may be a remote risk of electrical shock from lightning.
•
Do not use the telephone to report a gas leak in the vicinity of the leak.
•
To reduce the risk of fire, use only 26 AWG or larger telecommunication line cord.
