Cutterhead Bearing Assembly Replacement
1.
Disconnect power to the ice machine at the
breaker or disconnect switch.

Verify that no ice is present in the auger/barrel.
3.
Trim the evaporator insulation to expose the
three bolt heads securing the cutter head to the
evaporator.
4.
Remove the 3 bolts securing the cutter head to
the evaporator barrel.
5.
Use puller to remove cutter head from auger
shaft.
6.
Inspect auger shaft for damage – Do not install a
new cutter head/bearing assembly if the auger
shaft is scored or damaged. A damaged auger
shaft requires replacement.
7.
Clean evaporator and auger shaft to remove lime scale
and other water impurity deposits.
8.
Install new cutter head – do not force or drive cutter
head into position. Use a Scotchbrite pad to clean the
auger shaft and evaporator barrel until the cutter head

silicone sealant beneath the bolt heads to prevent
water leakage.
10.
Secure top cutter head with three bolts and removable
locktite.
11.
Remove o-ring at top of evaporator and discard.
12.
Clean evaporator top OD and groove and ID of plastic
chute to remove lime scale and other deposits
13.
Install chute seal over top of evaporator cylinder with
double lip feature to top end of cylinder. Verify inside
‘rib’ of seal is seated into cylinder groove around
entire circumference
14.
Using potable water, wet OD of seal and ID of chute
and assemble chute to evaporator.
15.
Align bottom edge of band on worm gear clamp with
bottom edge of chute and tighten clamp.
16.
NOTE: The machine must be allowed time for any
moisture inside the evaporator insulation jacket to
dry. Use a heat gun or hair dryer to remove moisture
trapped between the insulation and the evaporator.
17.
Apply silicone sealant and fill & seal any gaps, splits
or cuts on:
Entire bottom end of insulation jacket
Water inlet tube.
