5.5.21 Check fan belt tension・adjust
[Every 2,000 hours]
If belt tension too tight, it can cause shaft breakage or shorten the life of a bearing. If too loose, the belt
may slip and will cause early breakage or damage to the belt.
[Checking]
The standard deflection for the drive belt is 0.5-0.7in.
When pressed(a) with the finger(at approx.98N) at
a point midway between tension pulley and fan pulley.
(A):Tension pulley
(B):Fan pulley
(C):Crankshaft pulley
[Adjusting]
①
Loosen nut“1”.
②
Tighten adjustment bolt“2” to move the tension
pulley“3” and adjust so that the deflection of the belt
is approx.98N.The standard deflection of a new belt is
13-15mm.
③
Tighten bolts and nut“1” to hold the tension pulley
“
3”in position.
④
Check for damage to the pulleys, and wear of the
groove and belt.Be particularly careful to check that
the belt is not in contact with the bottom of the
groove.
⑤
Replace belt if it has stretched, leaving no allowance
for adjustment, or if there is a cut or crack on belt.
⑥
After replacing the belt, operate for one hour, then
adjust again.
Then check the
deflection of the belt
and make sure that
it shall
be 0.5 to 0.7in.
