TRANSPORT AND
ST
ORAGE
• Carry the unit by hand with the engine stopped and the muf
fl er pointed away from your body
.
•
Allow the engine to cool, empty the fuel tank, and secure the unit before storing or transporting.
• Store unit out of the reach of children.
• Be sure the engine is of
f when transporting.
INCORRECT APPLICA
TIONS
This unit is designed for a specialized type of powered equipment and for a speci
fi c job function.
This
unit is not designed to install anchoring devices of any kind.
The auger bit and auger extensions are
not to be utilized as anchoring devices.
There are several design similarities between the auger bits
and anchoring devices, but the two products are designed for dif
ferent job applications. Improper ap-
plications for either product can result in injury or death.
BE
ALERT ON THE JOB SITE
T
ragic accidents can occur if the operator is not alert to the presence of children. Children are often
attracted to machinery and work activity
. Never assume that children will remain where you last saw
them. BE
ALER
T
and turn the equipment of
f if children enter the work area. Keep children out of the
work area and under supervision of another responsible adult.
OPERA
T
ORS CONDITION
Operators must be in good physical condition, mental health and not under the in
fl uence of any type
of drugs. Operating this unit can be strenuous. If you have any condition that might be aggravated
by strenuous work, check with your doctor before operating this unit. Guard against the possibility
of back related injuries by always lifting the unit with your leg muscles and not your back. Operators
should also be of adequate height so that in any con
fi guration, the operators handles remain below
the shoulders.
PROLONGED USAGE
Prolonged use of this unit (or other similar units) exposes the operator to vibrations which may cause
White Finger Disease (Raynaud’
s Phenomenon) or carpal tunnel syndrome. Regular users should
monitor closely the condition of their hands and
fi ngers. Symptoms include: numbness and burning
sensations. If any of the above symptoms appear
, seek medical advice immediately
.
UNDERGROUND HAZARDS
It is the responsibility of the operator to know where buried power
, gas, and/or telephone lines are at
in the work area.
This may lead to shock or an explosion. Have the work area marked for buried lines
and do not dig in marked areas set by your local municipals. Striking a hard object underground with
the auger turning can result in the slowing or stopping of the auger
.
The transfer of rotational forces
can cause the auger power head to rotate suddenly in a counter clockwise direction and can result in
a loss of control or serious injury
