TROUBLESHOOTING CHART
PROBLEM CAUSE CORRECTION
Loss of power (conFcl) • Buiid-up of grass, leaves and
trash under mower.
• Clean underside of mower hous­
ing.
• Dirty air filter. * Clean/repiace air filter.
• Low oil level/dirty oil. • Check oil level/change oil.
• Faulty spark plug. • Clean and regap or change
spark plug.
• Dirty fuel filter. • Replace fuel filter.
• Stale or dirty fuel. • Drain fuel tank and refill with
fresh gasoline.
• Water in fuel. • Drain fuel tank and carburetor,
refill tank with fresh gasoline and
replace fuel filter.
• Spark plug wire loose. • Connect and tighten spark plug
wire.
• Dirty engine air screen/fins. • Clean engine air screen/fins.
• Dirty/clogged muffler. • Clean/repiace muffler.
• Loose or damaged wiring. • Check all wiring.
• Carburetor out of adjustment. • See "To Adjust Carburetor” in
Service and Adjustments
section.
• Engine vedves out of adjust­
ment.
• Contact an authorized service
center.
Excessive vibration • Worn, bent or loose blade. • Replace blade. Tighten blade
bolt.
• Bent blade mandrel. • Replace blade mandrel.
• Loose/damaged part(s). • Tighten loose part(s). Replace
damaged parts.
Engine continues to
run when operator
leaves seat with at­
tachment clutch
engaged
• Faulty operator-safety pres­
ence control system.
• Check wiring, switches and con­
nections. If not
corrected, contact an authorized
service center/
department.
Poor cut - uneven • Worn, bent or loose blade. • Replace blade. Tighten blade
