Premium “gel” Heel Pillow
The Posey Premium “Gel” Heel Pillow is a machine washable, multi-
purpose Heel Pillow that is ideal for individuals in acute care, long-term
care and homecare settings. It can be used to help treat a variety of heel
and foot problems, including skin irritation, heel ulcers and foot drop.

Features:
• Soft, non-shear polyester fabric offers a comfortable fit and protects the foot,
ankle and calf from skin irritation.
• Removable gel pad fits underneath the calf for hot/cold therapy applications.
• Hollow core micro-fiber filling retains its resiliency even after repeated
washings and will not bottom out.
• Open Heel cutout ensures heel isolation and promotes air circulation.
• Ankle and calf straps can be adjusted for different sized patients.
• Padded foot support and adjustment side straps help control foot drop.
• Interchangeable - can be used on either foot.
• Meets CA 117, Section E for flame retardancy.
moNitoriNg
Be sure to follow your facility’s policies and guidelines for
frequency of patient monitoring. Posey recommends that this product
be removed at least every two (2) hours to check for skin integrity, proper
circulation and range of motion.
iNsPeCtioN
Inspect before each use: check for broken stitches or parts; torn,
cut or frayed material or guides. DO NOT use soiled or damaged products.
aPPliCatioN iNstruCtioNs:
DO NOT walk while wearing this product!
1. Release all hook and loop closures.
2. Place the patient’s foot into the “Gel” Heel Pillow so that the heel is
suspended over the opening.
3. Attach the calf and ankle strap to the opposing side (Fig. 1). The straps should
be applied securely to ensure the “Gel” Heel Pillow cannot be easily removed
from the patient’s lower leg. Place fingers through the heel opening to ensure
that the heel is properly isolated (Fig. 2).
4. Ensure that the foot drop straps are threaded through the white tabs and
adjust to the desired degree of control (Fig. 3).
NOTE: The Premium “Gel” Heel Pillow can be used with and without the gel
pad (Fig. 4). One pad is included with each Pillow. Additional pads can be
ordered separately.
HeatiNg aNd CooliNg oF tHe gel Pad
Heating: Place the gel pad in a container of water to raise its temperature
to the desired level. Before applying, knead the pad to ensure uniform heat
distribution. DO NOT heat in a microwave!
The gel material will continue to warm up before reaching
its final temperature. Check temperature to avoid burning skin before using.
Repeat if necessary.
DO NOT OVERHEAT!
Cooling: Place the pad in a freezer for 30 mins. Before applying, knead the
pad to ensure uniform temperature distribution.
Longer exposure in a freezer may be required depending on desired
temperature. The gel pad can freeze solid after 2 hours depending on the freezer.

1. Secure all straps before laundering.
2. Remove gel pad from Heel Pillow.

This device is designed for use in normal indoor environments. This
device may be stored in ambient warehouse temperatures at normal
humidity levels. Avoid excess moisture or high humidity that may
damage product materials.
