Connecting the Cordset
The Clarity Direct Vent Gas Heater must be installed in
accordance with local codes or, in the absence of local codes,
with the most recent edition of the National Electrical Code
ANSI/NFPA 70, or the current Canadian Electrical Code
C22.1.
NOTE: The convection fan requires a 120 VAC supply
for operation, but the heater can be operated without the
fan as in the case of a power outage.
Plug the 3-prong grounded electrical cord plug into the
wall.
WARNING: This heater is equipped with a three-
pronged grounding plug that should be plugged
directly into a properly grounded receptacle. Do
not cut or remove the grounding prong from the
plug.
Connecting the Optional Thermostat
If the o ptio nal
thermostat is used, it
must be plugged into
the terminal strip lo-
cated in the left rear
corner of the heater.
When installing a
millivolt control sys-
tem, use only a spe-
cial low resistance
thermostat. Do not
use a regular heating
thermostat.
Be sure that all electrical connections are clean, free
from corrosion, and tight. Inspect connections periodically
to confirm that no corrosion has built up over time.
When properly installed and maintained, a millivolt con-
trol system should give many years of trouble-free service.
It is important to use wire of a gauge proper for the
length of the wire:
