IMPORTANT: This is a supplement to your owner’s manual. This information should remain with your owner’s manual
at all times.
The following information applies to your Polaris Frontier. When you run across information in the owner’s manual that
contradicts what is on this supplement, you must use the information that is in this supplement. If you ever have ques-
tions regarding the service and maintenance of your Frontier, please contact your Polaris dealer.
Choke: Whenever you see the word “choke” in the owner’s manual, it does not apply to the Frontier. The Frontier does
not have a choke.
Starting the engine (warm or cold): Turn the key to start the engine. There will be a slight delay for the ACS system
to initialize before the starter engages.
Break-In and Maintenance Schedule
The only break-in required for your Frontier is an oil change after the first 1000 miles of operation.
Maintenance Schedule
Change the oil and filter every 3000 miles or once a year. Oil capacity is 2 quarts, with filter change.
Spark plug change is not required. However, plug changes every 10,000 miles will keep top performance.
Vales are hydraulically controlled and require no adjustment.
The EFI system controls spark so no timing adjustment is required.
The EFI system controls fuel delivery so there is no jetting or idle/air adjustment required.
NOTE: The Frontier engine will automatically compensate for elevation and temperature.
Engine Trouble Shooting
EFI Troubleshooting requires special training. ALL EFI service should be performed by a qualified Polaris dealer.
Diagnostic Light Your EFI system has an Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which is pre-coded for any potential problems
your EFI system will have. If a problem with your EFI system occurs, a code is “triggered” and the check engine light
will come on. If the check engine light comes on, take your Frontier to a qualified Polaris dealer for diagnostics service.
Low Oil Light
If the low oil light comes on, add oil to the proper level on the dipstick. If the light stays on or if the machine burns oil,
take your Frontier to a qualified Polaris dealer for service.
For best cold weather starting, Polaris recommends the use of Polaris OW--40 Oil.
To avoid personal injury and/or engine damage, do not operate the electric starter or pull-rope starter while the
engine is running.
WARNING
Operation of the engine when the low oil light is on will cause serious engine damage.
