SIM2 and the theatrical format
On the left is a TV set with its HDTV aspect ratio, on
the right is a cinema screen (not to scale). It is
obvious that the TV is not able to fit the shape of the
movie image without adding black bars. The projector
is able to deliver the real theatrical aspect ratio.
