2. Check the air cleaner.
a. Check the air cleaner element to be sure it is clean and in good condition.
b. Loosen the cover screw and remove the left side maintenance cover.
c. Press the latch tab on the top of the air cleaner body, remove the air cleaner
cover, and check the air cleaner condition.
d. Clean or replace if necessary.

Never run the engine without the air cleaner. Rapid engine wear will result from
contaminants, such as dust and dirt, being drawn through the carburetor, into
the engine.

When starting the generator after adding fuel for the first time, after long term
storage, or after running out of fuel, turn the fuel valve lever to the “ON” position,
then wait for 10 to 20 seconds before starting the engine.

5. Starting The Engine
Disconnect any load from the AC receptacle before starting the engine
1. Turn the engine switch to the ON position.

2. Move the choke lever to the START position.
NOTE: Do not use the choke when the engine is warm or the ambient air
temperature is high.
