Close all valves. (See the illustration on page 2 for
positions.)
Please note that the valve is a threaded stopcock. To be
in position to open and close the drain channel prop-
erly with only a 90° turn, it must not be screwed in too
far clockwise nor unscrewed too far counter-clockwise
from the original position, as shown on page 2.

Turn on the vacuum. The gauge will register the
amount of vacuum.

Pour sample(s) into the chimney weight well(s).
Open valves to wells where filtration is desired.
Wash filters, if required.
After filtration

Turn off the vacuum.

Remove each weight then lift the filter with narrow
forceps. A recess next to each filter holder accommo-
dates forceps for easy filter removal.

Drain the collection box if necessary. (See the Care
and maintenance section.)

Note: When the indenta-
tion faces up (and the valve
handle is in a horizontal
position), the valve is closed.
To open the valve, turn the
handle 90° (the valve handle
will be in a vertical position).
