HOW TO USE YOUR FREEPLAY ASSIST WIND-UP AND SOLAR-POWERED RADIO
If the radio runs out of power while you are listening to it, first switch it off before
you recharge it with the wind-up handle or the solar panel.
How to Use the Solar Panel
Solar Panel.
Antenna
Lift up the
antenna for
better reception.
Tuning Knob
Turn to choose
a radio station.
Light
Switch
FM/AM/SW Knob
Move this knob to find
FM/AM/SW1/SW2.

Turning Handle
Turn the handle to
give the radio power.
On/Off Sound Knob
Turn this knob to put the
radio on, make the radio
louder and to turn it off.
Place the radio in the
sun so that the sunlight
falls onto the solar panel
on the top/back of the radio.
Lift the handle and turn
it quickly to the
right or to the left for
about 60 times or more.
The radio will play for
about 30 minutes.
The more you turn
the handle,
the longer the radio
will play.
How to Use the
SW Extension
Place the long wire high up.
Clip the wire to the radio antenna.
How to Recharge a Mobile Phone
The radio’s power system can also be
used to recharge a mobile phone.
IMPORTANT! WHEN FINISHED, PULL THE PLUG OUT OF THE RADIO.
USB socket
Insert the plug end of the charging cable into
the hole on the side of the radio.
Connect the mobile phone using its USB cable
Use a USB cable compatible with your phone to connect for charging.
Phone cable is not included with radio.
Turn the handle to charge the phone.
The phone only charges when the
handle is turned.

How to Turn on the Light and to Replace the Optional Telescopic Antenna
(if supplied).
Lights
The light switch turns on the LED
lights on the side of the radio.
Siren
The radio has an emergency siren to
attract attention. Push button to switch on.
Telescopic Antenna
If the telescopic antenna breaks,
it should be replaced with
the wire antenna (if supplied).
The broken piece of telescopic antenna must
be unscrewed (by turning anti-clockwise)
and removed from the silver base tube.
The antenna does not have to be
straight up. Move the antenna around
to help find the best sound.
