ABOUT THE PRODUCT

PRINCIPLE OF OPERATION

The ENVIROMAC

 Portable Welding

Smoke Extractor/Portable Dust Extractor
(107.1022) is a HEPA media type Air
Cleaner operating on a three-stage
filtration principle. After the contaminant
is picked up at the hood of the Snorkvac
Fume Extractor Arm it is then drawn
through the fume arm and through the
fan assembly and discharged to the inside
part of the prefilter which traps the larger
particles. The air then enters the HEPA
filter. The filter efficiency of the HEPA
media is 99.997% down to a size of .3
micron. The filtered air from the HEPA
filter is discharged out the 2 doors. The 2
doors contain charcoal, which eliminates
some gases that might be in the filtered
air stream. The prefilter and HEPA filters
collect particulate only and do not filter
gases, which is the sole purpose of the
charcoal door filters.

MAJOR COMPONENTS

The ENVIROMAC

 Portable Welding

Smoke Extractor/Portable Dust Extractor
(107.1022) is a self-contained unit
comprised of a fume extractor arm (for
source capture), fan and motor assembly,
either (1) washable polyester prefilter or
(1) throwaway paper filter, (1) HEPA
filter, (2) carbon door filters, complete
cabinet housing and an electrical
compartment which also includes a
contactor overload.

A) PREFILTER AND HEPA FILTER

This filter combination is the most
efficient combination of filters available.
The suction will deteriorate at the hood
as the filters load up with particulate.
Eventually the filters will have to be
replaced. To replace the prefilter, you
must remove the door at the front of the
machine. This door is removed by
removing the (2) plastic knobs near the

bottom of the door and then pulling the
door out on an angle so the door is free
from the (2) welded bolts. Then pull
down on the door to let it slide down
from the top of the door. You then
remove the combination prefilter and
HEPA filter by lowering the scissor jack
with a ratchet. Then slide out the
assembly. You remove the prefilter from
the inside of the HEPA filter. You can
now insert the new prefilter inside of the
HEPA filter. DO NOT BLOW OUT
THE LARGER HEPA FILTER. THIS
IS A THROWAWAY FILTER. THE
MEDIA IS VERY SENSITIVE AND
YOU WILL BLOW A HOLE IN THE
MEDIA IF CLEANED WITH
COMPRESSED AIR.
You can now
install the complete filter assembly back
into the machine and tighten the filter by
raising the scissor jack. Make sure the
filter is resting on the back of the filter
cradle butted up against the tab locators.
Make sure that the top of the filter fits
inside the top plate that has a 1” lip on it.
Make sure the scissor jack is high
enough to allow an airtight seal on the
top of the filter gasket. Caution should be
taken not to apply too much pressure to
the filter assembly or you could distort
and damage the filters if too much
pressure is applied. Always blow the
outside of the prefilter with the gasket of
the filter either on the floor or a container
to give you a good seal so that the
contaminant does not escape under the
seal. Never blow from the inside as the
contaminant will blow all over the
surrounding area and will also force the
very fine particulate into the media. Once
the filters are installed you should start
up the machine and feed 2 cups of
Precoat in a fine mist at the intake of the
hood if using the washable prefilter. The
Precoat increases the filter efficiency of
the washable prefilter and extends the
life span. Once you complete the Precoat
process you can now commence
welding. If you are using a throwaway
prefilter do not use the precoat with this
filter.
