1.1 How To Use This Manual
The All Sport
®
5000 Series Enhanced RTD Manual is intended as a real-time data
(RTD) reference for the user of a Daktronics Venus
®
controller. It contains the RTD
item numbers for all sports supported by the All Sport 5000 Series Control Console.
For questions regarding the All Sport RTD item numbers, please refer to the
telephone numbers listed on the cover page of this manual.
Daktronics identifies each manual by its engineering document number, or ED,
which is located on the cover page. For example, this manual is referred to as
ED-12483. Other manuals referenced in this document will be identified by the ED
number.
1.2 All Sport RTD
In Daktronics video, scoreboard and display controller usage, the RTD is a string of
ASCII data (8 bit > 20h) organized by position. The RTD data sent by the All Sport
control console is stored by the Daktronics Venus controller and then displayed on a
matrix or video screen. For example, a data frame uses the RTD data by referencing
its position and length within the string and converts it to graphic characters when
the sequence is run or verified.
The All Sport 5000 Series Control Console uses the following parameters:
Enhanced RTD protocol
Baud rate of 19,200
Word format of 8 data bits, no parity, and 1 stop bit
Because the All Sport controllers are frequently used in conjunction with Venus
controllers and display networks, technicians may wish to consult individual Venus
operator's manuals for setup of an RTD port and for the creation of an RTD data
frame in a sequence. Different models and series may have separate manuals, but
among the most frequently used are these:
