OWNER'S MANUAL

Congratulations!

You have purchased a remarkable audio accessory capable of dramatically improving phono playback. It
should provide you with years of reliability and better sound.

Description:
The ABCD-1 works on the principle of demagnetization similar to a tape head degausser. A fixed high
frequency signal is gradually increased from zero amplitude up to a maximum level where it is maintained for
a fixed length of time. The signal is then gradually reduced in amplitude to zero again. Differing from other
cartridge demagnetizers, the ABCD-1 signal is a very pure sine wave with ultra low distortion.

Operation:
Place the ABCD-1 close to your preamplifier or phono stage inputs. This will eliminate the need to change
the routing of your phono leads. Disconnect both left and right phono leads from you preamplifier. Connect
both of the phono leads to the cartridge demagnetizer. Turn the Demagnetizer’s power on. Depress the
“activate” button. The activate LED will illuminate. Wait until the activate LED extinguishes. The phono
leads may now be disconnected from the demagnetizer and reattached to your system. The Demagnetizer’s
power should now be turned off.

Frequency:
The Demagnetizer should be used as often as needed. A muddied soundstage and/or tubby bass are a sure
indication that a cartridge needs to be demagnetized. Once per week or before a critical listening session
are good times to use your ABCD-1.

Tips:
1) In our experience, both phono leads should be connected at the same time for best results. However,
connecting only one phono lead at a time may provide a greater enhancement. The only way to know is
to try it!
2) Performing the demagnetization multiple times may also bring about a further improvement. Again, the
only way to know for any particular cartridge and system is to try it.

Battery Replacement:
Complement: Two 9v batteries.
Procedure: Remove the four screws securing the top cover to the chassis. Carefully lift off the top cover.
Note the orientation of the batteries-the terminal sides should be toward the front (switch) side of the unit.

Remove the two batteries from their holders. Carefully disconnect the battery snaps from the batteries and
dispose of the old batteries. Reconnect the battery snaps to the new batteries. It does not matter which
snap is connected to which battery. Place the batteries in the holders. Replace top cover using care not to
pinch any wires. Reinstall the four screws.
