OPERATION
1. Mounting a tip:
Place a new tip on the pipette by pressing and gently rotating
the shaft into the tip. The tip will fit firmly the shaft.
Note: Never use the pipette without a tip.
2. Aspiration:
•
Press the pushbutton to the first stop (fig. A). Holding the
pipette vertically, immerse the tip into the sample liquid to
the depth of 2-4 mm.
•
Release the pushbutton slowly and smoothly (3-6 seconds).
Pause (1-2 seconds) to allow the full volume of liquid to fill up
the tip (longer for high density or viscous liquids) (fig. B).
•
Withdraw the pipette out of the liquid. If any liquid remains
on the outside of the tip, wipe it away carefully with a lint-free
cloth (take care not to touch the tip orifice).
3. Dispensing:
•
Holding the pipette vertically, position the tip end against
the sidewall of the receiving cuvet at a 40-45° angle. Expel
the liquid by pressing slowly the pushbutton; pass by the first
stop to the second stop (bottom of the stroke length). Wait 1-
3 seconds to empty completely the tip (longer for viscous
liquids) (fig. C).
•
Still holding the pushbutton depressed, withdraw the pipette
sliding it along the wall of the vessel. Then release the
pushbutton.
•
Discard the tip to waste container by pressing the tip ejector
button (fig. D).
•
The pipette is ready for the next pipetting cycle. To prevent
cross contamination use a new tip whenever a different kind
of sample is to be aspirated.
•
The pipette tip may be used several times, rinse the tip
immediately after use. A dirty tip may cause cross contamination
or wrong sample volumes may be transferred.
